Neale Marriott - Fine Artist
Neale Marriott’s experimental artworks explores our relationship with the places around us, whether the fleeting joy of the natural landscape or the complexity and enclosure of urban spaces. His artworks constitute a journey in different ways and have an energy and sense of movement within them in order to replicate our interaction with the world. They explore a journey between figuration and a more dynamic abstraction, but they are also a reflection on a more generic human and personal journey with references to history, progress, and the urban and rural environment. He has always been interested in exploring different materials on which to paint including metal, concrete, glass & Perspex. In using these materials, He has sought to blur the boundaries between the illusory nature of paint and the physical properties of materials. The paintings on layers of acrylic Perspex and glass try to take painting into new spatial and sculptural areas by creating an experience that subtly shifts and changes as the viewer moves around them. The aim is to create more interactive spatial artworks that better represent our experience and explore different contexts and narratives.
